Biography
James Garlimah, the singer-songwriter and record producer, traces his musical journey from Saskatoon, Canada, where he skillfully blends the Nineties Rhythm and blues with Afrobeats, while seamlessly incorporating elements of Hip-Hop into his storytelling. James draws inspiration from his diverse exposure to Highlife,Contemporary R&B, Hip-Hop,and soul music, a cultural richness evident in his creative expression today. His talents were recognized when Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Mr Eazi hand picked him out of 30,000 submissions for the emPawa Africa #30 talent incubator program. James, a proud Canadian with roots in Liberia and Nigeria, has cultivated a devoted following of over 30,000 supporters across various social media platforms. A graduate of the Recording Arts Institute of Saskatoon with a Diploma in Audio Engineering, he brings technical expertise to his artistic pursuits. In collaboration with close friends, he co-founded the independent record label "Forever Thing Music Group" in September 2022, marking a significant milestone in his career. James, the inaugural artist on the label, gears up for the release of his debut album on December 21, 2023.Collaborating with local musicians and a global team of producers, including talents from Ghana, the UK and the US, the album features additional production and live instrumentation to enrich its sonic palette. With mixing and executive production handled by New York-based Mario E. Abramson Jr, and mastering by multi-Grammy award-winning engineer Chris Athens, the album promises a diverse showcase of musical and cultural influences.
